Capacity expansion
building for the next leg
Fixed assets doubled in three years with fast sales growth, or rose 50% in a year counting work in progress.
On 6 Nov 2026, the Capacity expansion screen finds 690 companies on NSE and BSE. To pass, a company needs: ((Sales growth 3Years above 12%; Net block growth 3Years above 100%), or Net block plus CWIP growth above 50%); Debt to equity below 3; and 2 more conditions. The largest industry groups are Capital Goods (137) and Information Technology (60) out of 690 companies, with a median market cap of ₹878 Cr. Sorted by Net block plus CWIP growth (highest first), the first three are Kalind, Tandhan Industries and Lord's Mark Industries; 1,391 other companies could not be tested because data was missing.
Companies that are building: either net fixed assets have more than doubled over three years while sales grew faster than 12% a year, or fixed assets plus capital work in progress (plants still being built) rose by more than half in the last year.
Debt must stay below three times equity, so the expansion is not purely borrowed. Banks and NBFCs are left out because their fixed assets say little about capacity.
